The Italian Cultural Society of Washington DC offers language classes, various activities and special events troughout the year. It also sponsors an annual competition for several awards and holds monthly meetings.
The Italian Language Program held by the Society provides courses in Italian language and culture, for children and adults. The instruction is uniquely structured so that each course is designed around the needs and interests of the participants in each class.
Classes for adults are offered at different levels from beginner to advanced with special courses dealing with Italian literature, music, art, and the regions of Italy. Also offered are weekend immersion courses (16 hours) for those traveling to Italy.
The Society has signed an agreement with the Universita’ per Stranieri of Perugia, Italy and is now one of their Examination Centers for the Evaluation and Certification of the Italian Language Proficiency, called CELI ( certificazione di conoscenza della lingua italiana).
